Things I learned this weekend

1. Just because a girl is engaged doesn't mean she will actually wear a ring signifying that. Or drop the F bomb when you are clearly hitting on her.

To females reading this: If for some inexplicable reason you don't have a ring on and are engaged/married, for the love of Mike, please be considerate enough to drop the appropriate word during conversation so a lad doesn't feel so foolish when he takes a shot.

2. Magic players are really nerdy. I mean, really nerdy. Perhaps it was just dumb luck or sheer coincidence, but I had debated checking out a Draft tournament after getting back into the game via XBLA, and when my XBOX died on Friday night, I had no outlet for my Magic fix. So I went to the tournament last night at the local game shop (which is impressive), and yeah...did I look like that back in the day? I'm sure I was the oldest player there by a wide margin, and not quite as awkward as the rest of them. It was a fun experience to actually play the card game again, but whether it was worth it and would get me to go back another time is debatable. The people there were not of the ilk that I'd call up to hang out, although the organizer Mike was a decent fella.

3. When the subject matter of your movie has been treated differently in various mediums, more than likely you will not please all fans. However, it is to your benefit to make a movie that most of them can still enjoy, and not make it suck. Props to the maker sof GI Joe for completely failing to do so.

4. Even when I have a self-imposed deadline, and accountability to another, I can still treat a goal like homework and wait until the last minute to do it.
